The gap between rich and poor is widening and this is not my personal opinion, but a fact proven by data. We cannot determine where we are born, what we look like and which family we grow up in. However, these factors are decisive for our later success.
Sayings like
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"
are meant to motivate us to overcome the bad moments in our lives and make the best of them. And I know that even the most successful and beautiful people have certainly experienced bad times, because that's just the way things are. Nevertheless, I have to say that it is much easier to deal with difficult setbacks if you have access to resources that solve the problem.
Let me illustrate this with the example of lemons.
Firstly, you need access to fresh water to make your lemonade. Sounds easy when you can just turn on the tap in the kitchen, but harder when you have to walk 10 kilometres without shoes to a fresh water fountain and then carry the water all the way back. Then you also need a blender or a lemon squeezer to process the lemons. Some people buy a new blender every year because their old blender doesn't fit in with their beautiful kitchen design. Others don't have a blender or squeezer and have to squeeze the lemon by hand. This is also possible, but the acid in the lemon is unpleasant for the hands, especially if you have open wounds on your hands. When you mix the lemon juice with the water, the most important ingredient is still missing: sugar. After all, who wants to be without sweet sugar? As you can order everything online these days, some people don't even need to leave the house to get their sweet sugar for lemonade. How convenient! Others, however, unfortunately don't have this luxury as they live in areas where there are no grocery delivery services.
These delivery companies also have to make a profit, so they don't go to every remote village where only a few people live in simple living conditions.
That's just the way it is. It's not profitable.
So other people have to travel a long way to get to the nearest market that sells sugar. Since they have to take the bus, this journey only happens once a month. They have to plan well when to prepare their lemonade in order to have all the ingredients together.
So you understand what I mean when I say that it's not the same for everyone to turn their lemons into lemonade.
Sometimes it seems like a high stone wall that has to be overcome to get from the lemon side of life to the lemonade side.
But who constructed the wall? Why is the wall so high and rocky and why is there blood on the top of the wall?
You know why and I know why.
